Chiropractic adjustments are often associated with a "popping" sound. This occurs as joints move during an adjustment. The space between two joints opens rapidly and allows pockets of air to be release from the joint space creating the familiar popping sound. This sound has little to do with the therapeutic relief provided from adjustments which primarily comes from the actual motion to the joint, with or without a popping sound.
